The story hits most of the same beats from the original, while adding in some new locations and missing out some moments altogether. Jill's action man ally Carlos Rivera is part of the squad and this time he's playable more often. Jill needs to rescue some Raccoon City citizens while tangling with UBCS – a combat unit dispatched by Umbrella, the evil company behind the city's new zombie infestation. Hero STARS policewoman Jill Valentine is recovering from her experience in the doomed mansion before she's shortly plunged back into the horror and pursued by the new (almost) unstoppable squishy Terminator, Nemesis. Resident Evil 3 takes place in 1998, a mere 24 hours after the Spencer Mansion incident covered in the first Resident Evil game and begins before Leon and Claire's escape from Raccoon City, then continues beyond the events of Resident Evil 2. Resident Evil 3 remake review: Nemesis vs Jill Valentine Resident Evil 3 does throw in the new online multiplayer Resident Evil Resistance to bolster the value, but sadly due to its online RPG elements, very slow grind and daft mechanics, it feels like a poor consolation.

Resident Evil 3 Remake releases on Apfor PC through Steam, PS4 and the Xbox One.Admittedly, the game does grant you new weapons and tools to buy at the end of a play-through in order to mix things up for next time, but you hardly get enough points from one standard play-through to buy many of them. It only took me about a half-hour for each run but was well worth every moment. If you are even remotely interested in the franchise I highly recommend checking out the demo and experiencing it for yourself.
Overall the Resident Evil 3 Remake demo was incredible and we have a lot to look forward to next week. The great thing though is that there are multiple ways to handle Nemesis. The smart move is the pick up the shotgun and stun him long enough to get past. It is possible to loop your way past him and make it to the next checkpoint but you are going to take a beating along the way. Outrunning him isn’t an option since our big friend will just jump in your way or reel you back in with one of his tentacle arms. In the last portion of the demo we finally come face to face with Nemesis himself in all his glory. That isn’t without saying that you won’t run out of bullets every once in a while and have to either run or fend off the zombies with your utility knife. Personally, I am terrible at shooting games on the PS4 (I just can’t aim with a controller ya know) and I was able to make my way through just fine. Only the story mode is available to play through, so combat isn’t too strenuous but never felt overly easy either.
Resident Evil 3 Remake is a zombie shooter first and foremost and the demo gives us plenty of that. Jill and Carlos in Resident Evil 3 Remake. The demo does a great job of bringing the player up to speed by including tips on controls, how to use and combine items, as well as how to understand and use the map and interface. We, as the player, take control of Jill and make our way to the surface to turn the subway power back on. The Resident Evil 3 Remake demo drops you in just has Carlos and Jill meet in the subway. You can see the destruction within Raccoon City as parts of it have been torn down and other parts are burning. I particularly liked their attention to detail when it came to building the zone.

Jill Valentine’s update looks incredible and the character movement looks and feels fluid. I feel confident saying they are superior to the Resident Evil 2 Remake. First and foremost, the graphics look fantastic on both. My first playthrough of Resident Evil 3 Remake was done on the PS4 and the second was done on PC. Once you are done, come back and enjoy the rest. If you haven’t checked out the demo yet, get to it! It is available on PC through Steam, the Playstation 4 and the Xbox One. Please be mindful that there will be spoilers ahead.
That means it is the perfect time to take a dive into the demo and share some of my thoughts. We have just one more week left until the official release of Resident Evil 3 Remake from Capcom.
